| Special Interest Groups (SIGs) |
 |
| |
The key activities of the Vista User Group occur in the
Special Interest Groups. There are currently four Special
Interest Groups (SIGs), which facilitate focused collaboration
on special topics of interest across institutions. The VUG
Board and the SIG Chairs will monitor activity in the SIGs
and consider recommendations for combining and/or creating
new SIGs to meet the needs of the user community.
- Architecture
and Development SIG
The purpose of the Architecture and Development SIG is to
provide a forum for exchange of information about deployment
and configuration, SDK use, SIS integration, and system
extension. This SIG will work in tandem with but separate
from the WebCT Vista DevNet community.
- Instructional
Design and Support SIG
The purpose of the Instructional Design and Support SIG
is to provide a forum for exchange of information about
end-user support and design of classes within WebCT Vista,
including issues relating to training, consulting and support
strategies and resources.
- Application
Administration SIG
The Application Administration SIG will focus on issues
pertinent to users who are responsible for maintaining and
sustaining the day-to-day operations of the WebCT Vista
application. The group is designed to speak to the interests
of both those who manage server, domain, or institutional
administrative tasks from the GUI as well as those who work
from the command line.
- Institutional
Planning and Resourcing SIG
The purpose of the Institutional Planning and Resourcing
SIG is to provide a forum for institutions to design and
share methodologies for evaluating the effectiveness and
costs of implementation and operation of Vista. Issues to
be discussed will include data collection, academic analytics,
resource allocation, cost of ownership and return on investment
as it applies to hardware, software, and staffing.

| Regional User Groups (RUGs) |
 |
| |
Regional User Groups (RUGs) provide the opportunity for
WebCT Vista users in particular locations to share knowledge
that may be specific to their region, to meet locally and
to bring the outcomes of such activities back into the broader
Vista User Group communities. There are currently two Regional
User Groups (RUGs), which facilitate local activity relating
to the goals of the WebCT Vista User Group:
